Aaron Cruz
Vice President & Spatial Audio Director
Biography
Aaron Cruz is an audio engineer and spatial-audio specialist best known for his work with SSO Artists Entertainment, where he serves as Vice President and Spatial Audio Director. His career has been closely tied to the rise of immersive music formats, particularly Dolby Atmos mixing and Apple Digital Masters mastering, helping establish the technical foundation behind many of the label’s releases and engineering workflows. Cruz first began exploring immersive audio around 2021, during the early expansion of Dolby Atmos into streaming platforms. Initially experimenting independently, he created spatial reinterpretations of well-known recordings and published binaural renders online, demonstrating how classic records could be translated into object-based mixes designed for headphones and spatial playback systems. These early projects helped him develop a strong understanding of Atmos object placement, spatial rendering, and platform-specific delivery standards. During this period, Cruz connected with Jayden Reo (Jaydobeatzz), the founder and CEO of SSO Artists Entertainment. The collaboration quickly evolved into a long-term partnership focused on building the label’s immersive audio capabilities. As SSO began expanding its catalog and technical infrastructure, Cruz became a key figure in developing the workflows that would support Atmos mixing, Apple Digital Masters preparation, and high-fidelity distribution pipelines across modern streaming platforms. Within SSO, Cruz has worked on a wide range of projects, contributing to Dolby Atmos engineering and spatial production across numerous releases connected to the label. His work has included involvement in major Atmos releases associated with artists such as Lil Yachty, alongside a significant portion of GRIFFEN’s re-imaginative spatial catalog, as well as multiple internal SSO projects and independent artist releases distributed through the label’s infrastructure. Beyond individual mixes, Cruz’s role at SSO has extended into the technological development of the company itself. Working alongside Jayden Reo, he helped shape several of the engineering systems and technical workflows that power the label’s operations, including spatial audio production pipelines, metadata preparation for immersive releases, and distribution frameworks designed to meet the specifications of major digital service providers. These efforts contribute to the broader ecosystem of tools and services developed by SSO Artists Entertainment and SSO Digital Solutions, which aim to integrate creative production with modern music-technology infrastructure. Through his work at SSO, Aaron Cruz has become part of a new generation of engineers focused not only on mixing records, but on building the technical systems that enable immersive music production at scale. His contributions to the company’s spatial audio direction continue to support SSO’s growing catalog and its ongoing development of advanced audio and distribution technologies.
